A Record-setting Life
Ladies and gentlemen, we have the highest single scoring day by any one man in Life Draft history. Congratulations to... Rob Dyrdek! On a recent episode of Rob & Big, he decided he wanted to break a bunch of skateboarding Guinness World Records, and that he did. He "did work, son", breaking 21! Perhaps the two most impressive were the 2 types of boards slides he did on a 100 foot rail. Awesome. +5 for each of those, and +2 each for the other 19 including: Consecutive Ollies, Most Switch Frontside Kickflips in one minute, Longest Stationary Manual, Consecutive Heel Flips, Consecutive Nollie Kick Flips, Most Nollie Kick Flips in one minute, Consecutive 360 Kick Flips, and Ollie Big Spins. No idea what any of those are, ha. +48!
Big Black got in on the action as well, eating and peeling 3 bananas in a minute and eating 5 powdered doughnuts in 3 minutes without licking his lips! +4.
+4 more to each for the rest of their antics in that episode and Drama even gets +1.

Kristin and I went to the Takashi Murakami exhibit at the MOCA, Little Tokyo location. I first heard of him through the Kanye album cover shown below and that is a good example of his work. As Jim might say, "it's good to look at". Also, some of it reminds of mad balls. I had forgotten about those. +10
Music:
There has now been enough time to fully evaluate all '07 albums, and in honor of the Grammy's today, here's my official Album Of The Year declaration:

Congrats, Kanye West (+10), and good luck at the Grammy's tonight... try not to spaz!
An Honorable Mention to the other contenders:
Cam'Ron, Tom Gist, Penz with their street album, Public Enemy #1
Amy Winehouse (and Mark Ronson, really) -- Back To Black
DJ Jazzy Jeff -- The Return Of The Magnificent
Little Brother -- Getback
Blu and Exile -- Below The Heavens
will.i.am -- Songs About Girls
Friday I caught up on all the latest ish from nahright.com. My favorite track that I hadn't heard before is from Rich Boy (+1). Despite his "Throw Some D's" fame, he actually has a lot of introspection/conciousness/politicalness in his repertoire. It shows on Ghetto Rich (Remix) with NaS (+3), and the star of the show, Lil' Wayne (+5). Wayne absolutely kills it:
I could never win an Oscar, 'cause I don't know to act.
Saw my first million dollars and I ain't know how to act.
Then the second million came, then mo' came after that,
Then mo' came after that, hurricane after that.
Daaamn. And ya'll saw the aftermath,
And in my 'hood we don't front so I do give back.
When you see a 'hood nigga, you gotta tilt your hat,
And since I'm a hood nigga, I do just that.
OG's used to tell me, "you just rap",
"Lil nigga all you need to do is rap."
And, just when I thought I was gonna do just that,
Papa was a rollin' stone, and them stones was crack.
Fuck being like Mike I wanted to be like Pac,
Then I picked up a mic I wanna be like Pac.
Please put down the pipe, you don't need that rock,
Please put up a fight for the kids that watch -
Us in the spotlight, and then they mock,
But caskets get closed and then they drop,
And cases get closed and they are dropped.
'Cause no one knows, and nobody got,
Any outin' or info, 'Cause bet not.
Three words to a witness, they get shot.
Let me tell you what this is, this is the block,
Always talk to God, never listen to cops.
Murs new ish, "Better Than The Best", +1.
Skillz new ish, "Crazy World", +1.
Papoose new ish, "Scream", +1
Pharrell with a hot Louis Vuitton ad, +1.
Andre 3000 is co-starring in Will Ferrell's latest movie, and I love the movie poster (+1). Movie should be funny. Even though previews for previous Ferrell movies have looked stupid, I've ended up liking all the ones I've seen, though I did pass on the ice skating joint. But this one is basketball, so I gotta see it.
+1 to Kanye for the poster for his upcoming tour:

This is awesome, Snoop +3
Give me Roscoe's! Larry King is wilin' in this one:
Hot Barack ish (+3)! will.i.am (+5) video-ized and music-ized Obama's Iowa speech with great results:
Other appearances for +1: John Legend, Scarlett Johansson, Common, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Harold Perrineau, Nick Cannon.
TV:
For the last few House episodes, +3 to Hugh Laurie (House) and +1 to Kal Penn (Kutner).
I caught a Paul Mooney stand up... hilarious. +5.
Boondocks -- Ballin' episode: hilarious, part 2.
Aaron McGruder +5, Riley +4, Uncle Ruckus +1, Tom DuBois +1, Tary Strong as Cindy +1.
Basketball:
As usual, last night's Golden State/Sacramento game was great to watch. G-State won it, led by one of my favorite players, Monta Ellis (+3). Matt Barnes also provided a late spark for +2. On the Sactown side, Ron Artest was the star of the show. He stole a perimeter pass for a breakaway dunk, and thumped his chest in celebration. He got a technical for taunting, and loved it! He smiled harder and thumped harder! Awesome. +1.
